Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 04 September 2026
LookNoFurther is a marketplace where some products are sold directly by us, and others by independent third-party vendors listing and, at times, fulfilling their own products through our platform. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what is and isn't allowed for everyone who uses the Site: customers, vendors, and their staff alike. It applies in addition to - not instead of - our Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and, for vendors, the Vendor Agreement you accept when you join the marketplace.
Where a clause below applies only to vendors or only to customers, we've said so. Everything else applies to anyone using the Site in any capacity.
1. Prohibited and restricted products (vendors)
The following may never be listed, advertised, or sold through LookNoFurther, under any category, description, or disguise:
- Counterfeit, replica, or unauthorised-reproduction goods of any kind, including anything infringing a third party's trade mark, copyright, patent, or other intellectual property rights (Counterfeit Goods Act 37 of 1997).
- Stolen goods, or goods you do not have the legal right to sell.
- Illegal drugs, narcotics, and other habit-forming substances prohibited under the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act 140 of 1992 and the Medicines and Related Substances Act 101 of 1965, including any paraphernalia primarily marketed for illegal drug use.
- Prescription medicines, scheduled substances, or medical devices requiring a licence to supply, unless you hold the required licence and have agreed this category with us in advance.
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, and weapons regulated under the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 or the Explosives Act 15 of 2003, other than clearly lawful, unregulated items (e.g. standard kitchen knives, tools) sold for their ordinary purpose.
- Poisons, toxic chemicals, and other hazardous substances regulated under the Hazardous Substances Act 15 of 1973.
- Products subject to a manufacturer or regulatory safety recall.
- Endangered or protected wildlife and any product derived from them, in contravention of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act 10 of 2004 or CITES.
- Live animals.
- Human remains, organs, blood, or other bodily fluids or tissue.
- Alcohol and tobacco/vaping products.
- Goods requiring an import, export, or trading licence you do not hold.
- Sexually explicit material, or anything involving or sexualising a minor - the latter will also be reported to the South African Police Service.
- Anything promoting hatred, violence, or unlawful discrimination against any person or group.
- Gambling products, lottery tickets, or anything requiring a gambling licence.
- Multi-level marketing, pyramid, or Ponzi scheme participation, or "get rich quick" schemes.
This list gives examples, it isn't exhaustive. If you're unsure whether something can be listed, ask us before listing it, at vendor_support@looknofurther.co.za.
2. Listing standards (vendors)
- Descriptions, images, and pricing must accurately reflect the actual product being sold - Including its condition, materials, dimensions, and any included accessories.
- Don't apply a trade description or trade mark to a product in a way likely to mislead a customer about what it actually is.
- Stock levels shown must reflect genuine, sellable availability. Deliberately listing items you can't actually fulfil isn't allowed.
- Product images must be genuine photos of the actual item (or a true representation of it) and not a stock photo of a different or better item, and not another vendor's or brand's copyrighted photography without permission.
- List each product in the category that genuinely fits it. Deliberately mis-categorising a listing to dodge a restriction, a fee, or search relevance isn't allowed.
3. Fulfilling orders (vendors)
- Dispatch confirmed orders promptly and accurately (the right item, in the quantity ordered, in reasonable time).
- Don't substitute a different item without (the customer's) our agreement first.
- Keep your warehouse stock information current, so a customer order is never accepted for something you can't actually supply.
4. Circumventing the platform (vendors)
- Don't solicit a customer you met through LookNoFurther to complete a purchase, or any future purchase, outside the platform (whether to avoid our success fee, or for any other reason).
- Don't include your own contact details, website, or another marketplace's branding in a product listing, image, or packaging insert, for the purpose of redirecting customers off-platform.
- Don't create or use more than one vendor account to evade a suspension, a restriction, or a fee tier.
5. Reviews and ratings
- Reviews must reflect a genuine purchase and a genuine opinion of it.
- Vendors may not write or commission a review of their own products, write a review of a competitor's products, or offer a customer any incentive (a discount, refund, free item, or payment) in exchange for a positive review or for removing a negative one.
- Don't submit, or pay or ask anyone else to submit, fake reviews, fake ratings, or fake orders intended to manipulate a product's ranking or reputation.
6. Fraud and account misuse (everyone)
- Don't use stolen, fake, or someone else's payment details, identity, or account.
- Don't place an order with no genuine intention of paying, or file a chargeback or reversal for an order you know was legitimately fulfilled.
- Don't falsely claim a delivered item never arrived, or claim an item is defective when it isn't, in order to obtain a refund, replacement, or credit you're not entitled to.
- Don't create multiple customer accounts to evade a ban, a coupon's one-use-per-customer limit, or any other restriction.
- Keep your account credentials confidential, and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access - see clause 10 of our Terms of Service.
7. Technical abuse (everyone)
- Don't attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, system, or data that isn't your own.
- Don't scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Site using automated means, without our prior written permission.
- Don't use a bot, script, or any automated tool to place orders, create accounts, or interact with the Site in a way a genuine human user wouldn't.
- Don't introduce a virus, malware, or any other code intended to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the Site or another user's device.
- Don't attempt to interfere with, overload, or disrupt the Site's normal operation for other users.
- Don't attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent any security or access-control measure on the Site.
8. Conduct towards others (everyone)
- Don't harass, threaten, abuse, or use hateful language toward our staff, another customer, or a vendor, whether through a review, a message, a support ticket, or any other channel on the Site.
- Don't impersonate another person, business, or LookNoFurther itself.
- Don't use the Site to send unsolicited commercial communications to another user, other than through features we've deliberately provided for that purpose.
9. Reporting a violation
If you come across a listing, review, or piece of conduct on the Site that you believe breaches this policy, please tell us at support@looknofurther.co.za with as much detail as you can, like a link to the listing or review, and what specifically concerns you. We review every report.
10. What happens if this policy is breached
The action we take depends on what happened and how serious it is. It may include, individually or in combination:
- Removing the specific listing, review, or content involved.
- Cancelling an order and refunding the customer.
- A formal warning.
- Temporarily suspending a customer or vendor account.
- Permanently terminating a customer or vendor account.
- Withholding or reversing a vendor payout connected to the breach.
- Reporting the matter to the South African Police Service, SARS, or another relevant authority, where the law requires or permits it.
- Legal action, where appropriate.
We aim to be proportionate - a first, minor listing mistake is treated differently from deliberate, repeated, or serious misconduct - but we reserve the right to act immediately and without prior warning where a breach involves fraud, illegal goods, or a genuine risk to someone's safety.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, including to add a newly-identified prohibited category. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
12. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and should be read together with clause 13 (Governing law) of our Terms of Service.
13. Contact us
Questions about this policy can be sent to support@looknofurther.co.za. Vendors with a listing-specific question can also reach us at vendor_support@looknofurther.co.za.
